Frequently Asked Questions about Japanese Koi
1. How should I best acclimate my Koi to a new pond?
Float the transport bag or bucket with the Koi in the pond water for 20–30 minutes so the temperature can stabilize. Then gradually add small amounts of pond water to help the Koi adjust to the new water parameters. After about 10–15 minutes, you can gently release the Koi into the pond.
2. What if a Koi shows signs of stress or illness after arrival?
Some stress after transport is normal. Ensure calm surroundings, good aeration, and check the water quality. If the Koi remains sluggish or shows signs of illness after a few days, please contact us. We can advise you on treatment or next steps.
3. Can I keep Koi together with other fish species?
In many cases, yes — as long as there is sufficient space, good water quality, and proper feeding for all fish. Just make sure smaller ornamental fish are not at risk. Contact us if you are unsure.
4. How often should I feed my Koi, and with what food?
This depends on the season and the Koi’s growth. During warm months, feed 2–3 times per day with protein-rich food. In colder months, metabolism slows, so less and lighter feed (winter feed) is sufficient. Always use high-quality food adapted to your Koi’s needs.
5. What if my Koi grow larger than expected?
Depending on the variety, Koi can grow quite large. Ensure enough pond depth and volume. A pond that is too small or overcrowded can cause stress and poor water quality. Contact us if you need pond advice.
6. Where can I get further help or advice?
You can always reach out to us for advice and after-sales support. Contact us by phone or email, or visit our showroom. We’re happy to help you keep your Koi healthy and your pond in perfect condition.
